Proving that career makeovers do happen, Lincoln Alabaster is currently Manager of Documentaries at Spike TV, one of the MTV Networks. Lincoln began his career as an Executive Liability Underwriter for The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies in New York, but is currently responsible for developing, producing, and acquiring documentary films and documentary series for Spike. In addition to dealing with the network’s acquisitions of films such as Up For Grabs (Best Documentary, 2004 Los Angeles Film Festival) and The Outdoorsmen (2005 Tribeca Film Festival Selection), he is currently working on projects with Jon Stewart’s Busboy Productions and Snoop Dogg’s Snoopadelic Pictures, both scheduled for air in 2006.
Prior to his role at Spike TV, Lincoln was Associate Director of The Big Picture Alliance (BPA), a non-profit organization in Philadelphia which educates disadvantaged youths in life skills, job skills, and self-expression through the creation of films. While at the BPA, Lincoln was responsible for day-to-day operations and established numerous partnerships with public and private entities, while raising over $200,000 through development efforts in one (very economically challenged) year.
Mr. Alabaster’s first job in the entertainment industry was a summer internship as a strategy consultant for Madstone Films, where he advised the start-up independent company on strategic partnerships, marketing strategies, and profitability projections.
A native of Lynn, Massachusetts, Lincoln earned his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Boston University and his Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, where he was elected Co-Chair of the African-American Student Union (AASU) Corporate Relations Committee. In his spare time, Alabaster enjoys film, sports (both playing and watching), working on his screenplay, reading, and mentoring. He served as the Chairman of the Steering Committee for the 2004 Urbanworld Festival, was a mentor in the iMentor program, and is currently volunteering in the computer literacy program for youths co-sponsored by Dell Computers, KIPP Schools, and the Harvard Business School AASU Alumni Organization. Lincoln lives and works in the greatest metropolis in the world, New York City.
