Daniel Cherry III is currently a Sr. Strategic Planner at Wieden + Kennedy New York where he primarily works on the Nike and Jordan accounts.
Daniel has extensive experience in global brand management, advertising, music, sports marketing and entertainment fields, focusing on the youth and multi-cultural markets.
Prior to arriving at Wieden, Daniel established and was a partner in the advertising and brand consulting divisions of Frank151 Media Groups marketing division, malbon Brothers Farms (mBF). At Frank151 | Malbon Bros. Farms, Daniel worked with AND 1 Basketball, Toyota SCION, Molson USA, Nike, Sprite, Vitaminwater, Virgin Mobile, Oakley, Red Bull, and various other clients on branded content, events, promotions, niche marketing, and targeted brand strategy.
Before coming to Frank151 | mBF, Daniel worked as an Account Director at Buzztone, a Los Angeles based entertainment marketing company where he worked on various film properties, such as The Ring, 40 Days & 40 Nights, and Swordfish.
Daniel received his start in advertising as an Account Executive at Crispin, Porter, + Bogusky Advertising (Creativity Magazine’s Agency of the Year in 2000-2001). While there, he led AND 1 Basketball to the forefront of the basketball/athletic apparel industry and managed the advertising, production, and promotion of the critically-acclaimed AND 1 Mix Tape street basketball video series, which was the foundation for the brand’s overwhelming success.
He was also responsible for identifying and managing the execution of the client’s corporate grassroots marketing strategy that included the AND 1 Mix Tape Streetball Tour, NBA All-Star Weekend festivities, and local branding campaigns. This creative resulted in the Client signing NBA Superstar Kevin Garnett and being voted “2000 Grassroots Marketer of the Year” by BRANDWEEK. During his time at Crispin, Daniel also assisted on the brand strategy for the anti-tobacco truth brand, which has gone on to become the most successful teen anti-smoking effort in history.
Daniel graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 2000 with a BA in Urban Economic Development and a minor in Spanish Literature.
